Enter to create a new line within a cell in Excel 2000

Excel 2000: Multiple lines of text within one cell. ex: date: text...
date: text... I need to distinguish the dates within oen cell so each needs
to be on its own line.
date: text...
date: text...
rather than all running together.

I've tried every keyboard shortcut I could find and nothing worked.
