--Suddenly, few days ago, Outlook is no longer retaining Password eventhough
the box "remember my password" is ticked. I use outlook 2003 -Windows XP
and only one mail
account. Outlook keeps requesting password every time it checks for mail...
and the Enter Network password box pops up and does not store my password
Is there any solution from Microsoft

Did you find a solution for this password problem?
I have the same problem for a LONG time. I go to Tools, Account, Properties,
Servers and enter password and click the "remember" box and Apply. I can
close out and immediatrly go back and the password box in blank. FRUSTRATING
Thanks,

I am having the same problem with one of my workstations. I have been
through all of the suggested remedies that I have found here. I have set up
another user on the computer and configured outlook to go to the user's email
address and it does remember the password. So what I am going to do is
delete the windows account that will not remember the password c/w all the
files. I am then going to set up the user again. Hopefully that will work.

After struggling with this problem for several days I finally stumbled upon
this thread which lists a number of possible solutions:

http://www.socialmedia.biz/2003/05/solution_to_ent.html

The solution that finally worked for me was resetting my User Shell Folders
as described here:

http://windowsxp.mvps.org/usershellfolders.htm

I'm running Outlook 2003 on a Windows XP Pro SP2 system. I'm not sure what
wiped out my User Shell Folders to begin with, but after resetting them the
Enter Network Password problem in Outlook went away.

I hope this helps.

Peace,
Steve

The problem will be fixed(at least it was for me) after following the
instructions at http://windowsxp.mvps.org/usershellfolders.htm

Resetting the shell keys in the registry using the supplied reg file,
then I deleted the key in the Protected System Storage key (not sure
if u have to do this), then rebooted, then reentered outlook password
and WHALLA no more issues.
