Is there anyway of enlareging the size of text throughout Vista? I am much
more attuned to the XP size.

Re-adjusting screen resolution to smaller numbers will increase text size

Right click on the desktop, select Personalize - Display Settings - Advanced
Settings - List all modes..

Pick an aspect ratio ratio that suits your monitor while giving you a larger
text size..

That may well look horrible on a solid-state display which should be
run at its native resolution. Surely there's a better way of setting
font sizes?

Accessibility options? Not quite as nice but if an LCD you are correct,
although that could also be the OP's problem, that it's set too high
already.

No, there is neither an XP size nor a Vista size.

My guess is that you have a new computer running Vista. Is that
correct?

If so, your monitor is probably set for a higher resolution than your
old XP monitor was, and that makes everything, not just text, smaller.

If yours is a CRT monitor, you can adjust the resolution by right
clicking on the desktop, choosing Personalize, then Display Settings,
and dragging the bar there.

If yours is an LCD monitor (it likely is if it's a new computer), you
can still do that, but LCD monitors usually give poor results if not
used at their native resolution, which it's probably set to.

However, most applications permit you to change the text size within
them. One way to do this which works in most applications is to hold
down the Ctrl key and scroll the mouse wheel. One way makes it bigger,
the other smaller.

Hi, Don
What do you mean by 'XP size'?
Have you changed monitors? If you have the same monitor, and your
resolution in Vista is set the same as it was in XP (1024 by 768, for
example), then the characters and most stuff should be the same size. Or
maybe in XP you had set a custom DPI and you haven't done the same in Vista?

Then why not V*sta??????????????????????????????????????????????????

Adjust the DPI size to change font size throughout the system, however
there may be some issues with doing that. Vista handles it pretty well,
but some applications may just ignore it, or may get mangled.

Changing the DPI has been the correct way to do this since windows 3.1 IIRC
so why would anyone write an application so badly that it didn't work now? I
don't know of any applications that it doesn't work on but I don't use any
really odd applications ATM. The only drawback that I have encountered is
that icons aren't resized but doesn't Vista fix that? (I haven't tried as I
bought some new specs rather than wind the dpi up any more. ;-) )

People with bad eyesight want to enlarge all fonts associated with the OS,
including everything in the mail package.

Also, they should not have to reorganise the desktop icons to make the text
fit on the screen.

XP and Vista are both quite appalling in this respect.

Just right click the background and select personalize..
click on change dpi (on the left)..
select a bigger number.

It is really easy.
