Energy Saver settings on a non-admin account?

I've got a rather vexing problem with a computer. At the place i work, a
woman was given a loaner machine to use until her new machine comes in, but
for whatever reason it refuses to spin the HD backup after it spins-down.
the machine is old, and works fine while everything is up and considering she
is getting a brand new machine very soon spending a large amount of time
diagnosing and fixing this problem isn't really rational.

So what i would like to know is how to change the energy saver settings on a
non-admin account.

Temporarily add her to the administrators group, log in as her, set the
power settings as you wish, log out, and remove her from the administrators
group.
