Endnotes for Word 2004 for Mac

I am using Word 2004 for Mac. Is there any way to place endnotes earlier in
the document than at the very end? I would like to place them before a
bibliography and index, as is standard for books. I've tried copy and paste,
which works, but all the superscript numbers become changed to 1.
