endnotes do not appear at end of section

In my Word 2002 document, I have placed a section break (next page) before my
References and Appendix pages. However, when I try to insert endnotes in the
main body of the document with the "end of section" option selected, the
endnotes appear at the end of the document (after the appendices) instead of
before the section break. Why is this happening?

When you insert Endnotes, there is an option to insert them either at the
end of the section or at the end of the document. Make sure that the latter
option is not selected.

Click in the section before "References and Appendix", and click on File |
Page Setup | Layout | uncheck the "Suppress endnotes" box | OK.
