endnote placement - need help!

S

Suzie

I have a document where I need to place endnotes at the
end of the text material, then have a sample form after
the end notes. I inserted an section break at the end of
the text material and instructed the end notes to be
placed at the end of the section, which should be placing
them before the sample form, which is tacked on the end of
the document as its own section. But the endnotes keep
going to the end of the sample form, the end of the
document.I can't figure out why the instruction to place
endnotes at the end of the section is not being obeyed.I
really need help.

Thanks,
Suzie

Hi Suzie,

I can't replicate the problem. If you want to sent me the document, I will
take a look at it for you.

Please respond to the newsgroups for the benefit of others who may be
interested.

Hope this helps

The solution has been posted by Dayo and I can't thank you
all enough for your prompt help.

Always welcome--I just learned about the "suppress endnotes" command from
Suzanne Barnhill the other day, so glad it came in handy, especially so
quickly.

I thought of asking about that, but since it is not set by default, it
seemed unlikely that that box would be checked. Go figure!

Suzanne,
I inherited the document from someone in Word Processing
who is not here anymore. New question, which I have
posted but no response yet: What if the suppress endnotes
box is checked, but gray and therefore unable to un-check?

Thanks,
Suzie

Is the option really disabled or just reflecting mixed conditions? There's a
difference between a grayed-out box (with the label text also dimmed) and a
gray check. I'll take your word for it that the former is what you're
seeing, but just in case it's really the latter, that would be the result if
you had "Whole document" selected instead of "This section."

Oh, wait! I thought I couldn't replicate the situation where the box was
checked but disabled, but I can. If you've selected "Suppress endnotes" and
then changed the endnote location to "End of document" instead of "End of
section," then this will happen. Go to Insert | Reference | Footnote and
change the setting, then click Apply. You should then be able to clear the
check box.
