End task on (sample.exe)

Hello all,

I have 2 XP Pro systems that have trouble shutting down. when I shut them
down I get a popup that say I need to end task on sample.exe or cancel, and
the PC's will not shut down unless you end the task. can anyone tell me what
this is and how to resolve it. these machines are a new client machines and
I checked the virus protection on both and they are up to date and I ran the
stinger on both and it deleted a couple of Trojans on the first run and none
on the second run (I ran the stinger in safe mode).

I think I have a little insight into the Sample End Task Problem.

I worked today with my district technologist because I was having th
same problem on my laptop. He started shutting down each individua
process and found a couple of files that began with QC. I remember on
was QCWilson but both happened to be connected with the McAfee Antiviru
software. He shut down the files and turned off the computer. Th
Sample End Task box didn't pop up. He then uninstalled McAfee an
re-installed it and now I don't have that problem anymore. Th
computer shuts down properly.
