Useless 25mb container limit IMNSHO. If you want good encryption
containers get TrueCrypt for WinXP http://www.truecrypt.org/ or Scramdisk
for Win9x http://www.scramdisk.clara.net/ both freeware.

HI Dud

You might be just the chap to answer this one for me. I've been using
Scramdisk to create SVL containers, quite happily for years now on
98SE. I'm about to embark on the inevitable migration to XP.
Information on http://www.samsimpson.com/cryptography/scramdisk/ states
that:

1) TrueCrypt supports Windows 200/XP and 2003 and can mount Scramdisk
containers.

2) The free version of the Scramdisk that you are using can't run under
XP.

Rather than trying to restructure everything for TrueCrypt, or purchase
(shudder) DriveCrypt, I've tried solution 1). My SVL files under
Scramdisk are passworded using 2 of the 4 available "fields" in the
Scramdisk dialog. TrueCrypt, however, offers only one "field" for a
password. Any idea on how to open my Scramdisk SVLs using TrueCrypt?

WRT 2) I intend using FAT32 under XP, not NTFS. Would Scramdisk work
under these conditions, do you know?

Thanks for any info.

Sadly, I don't know :-( I migrated all of my encrypted Scramdisk CD images
into TrueCrypt DVD images a few years back. You could try asking in
alt.security.scramdisk. I've been lurking there since the stone age ;-)
