Encoding Problems

I have a problem with my browser displaying graphics &
pictures quite often (but not everytime). I have three
browsers on my PC - IE 6, NetScape 7.1, and a
SBC/Yahoo/DSL browser (which I am told gets its settings
from IE). I don't have the problem displaying graphics &
pictures when using NetScape, but I do w/ the other two
browsers. I contacted my ISP (SBC/Yahoo/DSL), and they
diagnosed the problem to be with how some web pages are
Encoded. I have "Auto Select" checked, but when I have the
display problem it shows that the page is using "Western
Eurpoean (ISO)". If I select "Western Eurpoean (Windows)
that web page redisplays fine. How can I fix this? Is
there a way to manually change the settins so that IE will
use Western Eurpoean (Windows)? If I select that once, it
seems to default back to Western Eurpoean (ISO) after I
change or refresh the page.

Do you have an example of a page that doesn't work with Western (ISO)?
I've never had such a problem.

Frank;

I have a similar problem. I use IE6 SP1/Windows 2000.
Each time I chiose auto select and navigate to certain
pages, pictures do not display and I get the boxes with
red x's. This happens on several webpages in this
environment and when I change encoding to Western European
(Windows) it temporarily fixes the problem until I
navigate to another page. I have problems with a lot of
pages. netscape.com, graphics.com, petsmart.com, and
more. I just re-rolled my system to install IE 5.5 SP2.
Problem is, Microsoft does not provide that download
anymore, so I am "stuck". If you find a fix to Windows
2000, IE 6 SP1, please e-mail me. It is frustrating for
our 500+ clients which still use Win2000 to constantly
have to click view, encoding each time a page is corrupted.

Thanks.
