Encoding Problem

I have a problem viewing web pages. Many pages I call up
are unreadable. When I go to View/Encoding and change the
setting to Western European (Windows) or Unicode (UTF-8),
then the page is viewable. I have checked the auto-select
feature, but that only seems to work on the current web
page. When I go to a new page, it selects the wrong view
again. I would appreciate any help anyone can give me.

Is Auto Select enable or not in the View/Encoding.

If it's only pictures that you have problems with, read on.

A Web page may display an image as a red X, or a placeholder may appear in
place of the image.
