enabling macros message - make it stop!

I upgraded to xp from ME and now everytime I open word I
get a message about macros not being enabled or they are
disabled. At word I was farting around this website and
found a patch to download from my XP disk. I thought I
would just find it again, but all I find is useless info
that tells me to change my security settings. HELP me
find this patch please. qa.

Open Word and go to Tools, Options and Security. Go to the
bottom and click the button that says Macro Security. Set
it to Low.

if i set it to low will i be at risk for viruses?

Not if you have proper virus protection on your PC and it
is up to date.

I just tried the same thing myself and the blankty blank "enable macros" message appears to have stopped. What got my messaging started was I installed Microsoft Office XP ( I did have Office 97). Thanks to all for the help
