Enabling a Serive from Command Line

F

Fakhruddin Zavery

Hello,

I accidentally Disabled two of the RPC services using the GUI. However when
I try to Enable them again the properties sheet does not come up when I
right click on the particular service.

Is there any way I can Enable those services and Start them from the command
line or by other means. I know I can use the net start command to start and
stop but how can I Enable them first?

Thanks in Advance for all the help

To correct this problem you will need to use your XP CD to boot to the Recovery Console, then type the command:

Enable RPCSS Service_Auto_Start

Then press the Enter key to submit the command. Then type:

exit

and press Enter to restart the computer.

I'm guessing you did this trying to solve the error messages caused by the Blaster worm. If you have not already done so, follow the steps on the following page to take care of that problem as soon as your computer is back up (if possible, download the Blaster patch on a different computer and install it before going on-line).
