Hi Stuart,

The ONLY way around it is to ask your Administrator to change the Group
Policy. Or log in locally, but that could put the network at risk when
logging back in to the domain.

A tool? Not sure what that is.

If you're an Administrator, then use the Group Policy editor and disable
it. You don't mention whether you're on a domain or not. You may need
to use the Group Policy Management Tool in WS2003.

Stuart,

You're not answering my questions, and each of your replies are vague.

You state someone "had a tool". You may need that "tool" used to
reverse it.

I mentioned possibly there was a group policy set.

Question: Are you on a domain?
If so, the policy is most likely set on the server. If so, the network
Administrator would need to remove it.

i have tried this: http://www.petri.co.il/disable_usb_disks.htm
but the registry is set to 3 anyway

when logging on to the pc the window comes up with:
administrator has prohibited access to usb/1394 mass storage device

I don't know if that is the key that is used by the Group Policy. You
will need to research it further. Google can be your friend here.
