Enable firewall?

I just posted that we have had the RPC problem but after
following suggestions here we seem to have fixed it...we
have another problem that started along with the RPC
problem and that is our desktop disappeared and we have
to use Task Manager to open anything. My post has not
shown up yet so I can not post under it, so am doing a
new post...since we can't access our desktop, we have not
found a way to access control panel to enable the
firewall. Does anyone know a backdoor way of doing so?
We have tried any way we can think of, including looking
at IE preferences, etc. Thank you!

In Task Manager, click File | Run, then enter "control" (without quotations)
in the dialog box and this will bring up the Control Panel for you.
