Enable Disable Report Alternate Back Color

I created a program option to enable or disable Alternate Back Color in
reports so users can choose whether they want this in their reporting.
However when I set the alternate row color at runtime it prompts the user
every time they run a report to save changes. How can I set this property at
runtime with prompting the user to save changes to the report?
