Rebecca,

By default (out of the box) Word is setup with Macro Security Level set to
high. This means that any macros in your document or documentment templates
will be disabled.
Sometimes documents your receive can contain macro code that could cause
problems on your computer (e.g., install a virus).

Only you can decide what you are comfortable with. I use the Medium Setting
and I have selected to Trust Installed Addins and Templates. This is a low
acceptable risk to me. I will get a warning if I receive a document that
contains a macro and can choose to open it or investigate first.

I don't recommend that you use LOW setting.

To change your setting use Tools>Macros>Security.

A macor is a routine that will can run when selected or automatically to
perfrom functions. For example, I have an AutoOpen macro in my Normal
Template that commands Word to open each document in Print Layout and the
Zoom at Best Fit.
