empty documents folder

Hi NG!

I have a strange problem.

My documents folder doesnt show the content, although a lot of content
exists.
When typing a subfolders name in the addressbar, I can see the contents of
this subfolder.

Also in the command shell the "dir" command doesnt show me any content of
the documents-folder. But I can access subdirectories via "cd subdirectory".
The content of the subdirectory can be listed via "dir".

When I select "properties" after right-clicking the documents folder vista
shows me the size of the folder and the number of files found.

I have already tried the chkdsk...
Everything worked fine until today.

Has anybody got an idea what could be the reason for this strange behaviour?

Thanks in advance.

First of all, these aren't My Music, My Pictures & My Videos that you're
looking for, are they? Those aren't real folders, but junctions for
backward compatibility.

Next, do they show up if you go to:

Organize -> Folder & Search Options -> 'View' tab

and select "Show hidden files & folders" and CLEAR the checkbox for "Hide
protected operating system files"

If so, you can remove hidden & system attributes using the 'attrib' command
from a command prompt window.

C:\Users\Keith\Documents>attrib -s <foldername>

C:\Users\Keith\Documents>attrib -h <folder name>

If none of this helps, there's a few other things we can check - post back.

Hello Keith!

Thank you for your help!
I dont know, how the folders became "hidden", but they were...

Switching to "show hidden files and folders" helped finding the content!

Thanks a lot.
