Employee Page - Secure

Carl Vannest

Folks,

I'm not an expert with FrontPage but I have recently inherited a domain
from a fellow webmaster. He was using FrontPage on it when he left the
company. Now I am trying to figure out a few things to enhance the page,
and make the company happy with what their final product will be. The site
is http://www.dvsconsultingservices.com and what I am trying to do is get
the "Employee Page" area to require a Username and Password. I see nothing
in FrontPage that offers this option. Anyone have any ideas??

If you could e-mail me and let me know I would greatly appreciate it.

There are a couple of things you could do. One would be to put the Employeee
Page into a Subweb with unique permissions, and require login for the
Subweb. This can be done through FrontPage, as long as you have "Administer"
permission for your domain. Other solutions include using server-side
technologies, such as ASP, CGI, etc, to build password-protected pages
within the same web site.

Yes I went through this too

If you go to the JBOTS site they have a FP Login tool plug
in for under $ 20

Martin,

Do you know if the JBOTS work with FP 98? I have yet to go out and
purchase FP 2002.

Thanks,
Carl

As far a recall, J-Bot add-ins are not available for FP98. However, you will
need to be hosting your site on a Windows IIS web server, in order to use
any ASP based application.
