embedding (?) sound into email

I received a reply to an email I sent a friend and when I opened it, a 2
second sound file played immediately. There was no attachment, so can anyone
tell me how this was done? I'd appreciate it a lot.

Sorry, I forgot to mention I am using Outlook 2002 w/SP3.
