embedded virus

AVG found 5 viruses but could not heal or remove them because they were
embedded object.

GetAccess.class
InsecureClassLoader.class
Installer.class
Counter.class
Parser.class

All are java/byte verify virus, I have uninstalled Java but the files are
still there. Can I delete the entire Sun folder safely?

If you uninstalled Java, maybe. But what version of AVG? Get AVG 7 (they're
stopping support for version 6 on 12/31/04) and try again - also get a
second opinion at a reputable online scanner like

Lanwench,

That's the problem. AVG 6 didn't find it. After I installed AVG7, it
detects. This newer version doesn't have the scheduler in the free version.

When you say get a "reputable" scanner, do you mean AVG isn't good enough?
I'll take up your suggestion for a second opinion though. Thanks

Sonny

Sure it does - it's just in a different place. AVG test center, scheduler?

No, I like AVG just fine & use it myself here. I meant a reputable *online*
scanner for a second opinion.

Just did the online scan - and it found 8 viruses, non-cleanable. AVG only
detects 5.

What happens now? I delete the Sun Java folder?

Delete the ZIP file the .CLASS files are in or to get confirmation, post the FULL path of
the infected files.

Delete the .CLASS files. They are in the Java cache.

You can also go to the Sun Java Control Panel Applet and clear the Java Jar cache.
