embedded objects won't open

EMbedded objects in word won't open when i try to open them.

The screen flashes for half a second and nothing happens.

Strange thing is that the same document on an other pc works fine (objects
open).
and if i create a new .doc en embed some objects, they will also open.

???

Recently I had a similar problem as this, but only with pdf files, and it
turned out that I needed to upgrade my version of Acrobat. So sometimes this
problem is not necessary to do with Word.

I also have the problem with PDF files, updated acrobat, no solution.
But a bit later I had the same problem with an embedded .Doc.

So it seems to be in Word, but i'm not sure.

Often, an outside application, such as the Norton Antivirus Office Plug-in,
can cause this kind of thing. If you have Word 2002 or 2003, try holding down
CTRL when you start Word, to use it in Safe Mode, and see if the problem goes
away for the duration of that session.

If that doesn't make any difference, try booting Windows in Safe Mode and
test again.
