Do you mean that you can't insert them? Inserted videos are always linked, not
embedded, so I'm just asking for clarification.
If you can't insert a video, what message do you get? Also, try the following:
1. Go to Start > Run and type mplay32.exe and click on OK
2. Go to File > Open and locate your video file.
3. Click on the Play icon.
I have a similar issue. I am trying to insert .avi files into '97 and they
won't insert. I get the hourglass for a secnd but nothing happens. If I try
to open the file directly from the folder it opens without a problem in WMP.
However, when I tried your suggestion below, to check mplay32.exe. and open
it through there, I get an error message that reads "Video not available, can
not find 'vids:dvsd' decompressor."
Are the AVIs from a digital camera? If so, rename them and give them a file
extension of MPG and see if that works. Some cameras give their output files an
incorrect file extension.
