embed a link in a picture caption in photogallery

I have multiple pictures in a phot gallery in FrontPage. Right now when I
click on the thumbnail image I am taken to a larger image.
Can I embed a link to a web page that explains the features of the product
into the description or caption of the picture so I don't have to set up a
separate link to this page below the photogallery?

Not on the page that displays your big image...it's not real page, it's the
browser displaying the larger image. To do this you'd have to create your
own gallery pages manually and not use the slideshow photogallery.

You "could", and dunno how awkward it would be, but you might take the
bigger image and with an image editor create a caption and description as
part of the image.

I want to embed the link in the cation shown next to the thumbnail shown in
the photogallery (vertical layout) not in the big image.
Any ideas?

You can't; but that gallery is quite simple to create without the bot...then
you could do the link.

Try putting your thumbnails in a table.

Let's say you have 4 images...create a table 2 columns with 4 rows, put your
thumbs in top two cells, the next row will be for descriptions then another
row of images and bottom row of descriptions (or however you want it to
look). Then create 4 new destination pages one for each full size image and
like your descriptions and/or your thumb images to each respective full size
image page.
