Emails randomly moving to Deleted Items

Running Outlook 2002 on a 2003 Exchange server, we have a
problem where a couple of users are moving emails from
their Sent Items to folders that are subfolders of their
Inbox. However, random emails are moving to the Deleted
Items instead. The users have no rules set up, and there
is no limit on mailbox size for users. I know it's easy
to dismiss them as having made a mistake, but one of the
users is pretty competent and has in fact had this
problem frequently in the past. Has anyone experienced
this problem?

We believe not, they have told us that they are dragging
the items to subfolders and then when they happen to go
looking for one of them, locating them in the Deleted
Items. This is not all the items they are moving to
subfolders, it is random items.

Of course, it could well be user error, but unless you
happen to go looking for these emails, you don't know if
they have deleted themselves or not.

I am running Outlook Express 6 and I have started to have
the same problem this past few days. I have 2 different
identies and mails for one of the identies are getting
moved straight to the deleted items folder. I have no
idea why this is happening, I have no rules set-up, but I
did install an example spyware program lately which I
installed. The problem seems to have started at aroun
that time, but I have no ideaa how to fix it!

I have seen this with mouse buttons that momentarily lose contact. As they
drag the message from the Inbox to the destination folder, they pass over
the Deleted Items folder and the PC senses a button-up condition, causing
the message to get dropped into the Deleted Items folder.

Of course, if this is really happening, they'd find messages inexplicably
deposited into other folders as well, not just the Deleted Items folder.
