Have my own domain and can't send emails to my 2nd user account or to myself
using Windows Mail. Added my domain to the safe senders list but it still
just black-holes. No errors ion the log, nothing indicating there is a
problem. If I use another client the mail goes thru just fine.

Any ideas appreciate before I switch to another client.

Hard to say what's happening without an error message.
Are you receiving email on that account?
When you send a message, is a copy placed in the Sent Items
folder? Which antivirus are you running? Some of them are not
fully compatible with Windows Mail.

That's what has me stumped. No errors at all. I'm using windows mail here in
this post. All other email contacts and activities work fine. Am running
Norton 360 and my other laptop norton antivirus only. Tried disabling NAV
and it still doesn't change things.

When I send, the item is in the sent folder as expected.

Norton security products are among the top three troublemakers
for Windows Mail. Symptoms often don't surface until several months have
gone by, or until an update occurs.
First, be sure to disable its email scanning, for the reason explained here:
http://thundercloud.net/infoave/tutorials/email-scanning/index.htm

Several users here have reported that Symantec will give you a free
upgrade to Norton Antivirus 2009, which cures the problem. If interested,
contact Symantec via online chat.

Disabling the Norton program is often insufficient. Do a trial uninstall,
followed by using their debris removal tool:

Instead of uninstalling your antivirus, another option is to upgrade to
Windows Live Mail, which is more resistant to the adverse effects of overly
intrusive antivirus products: http://download.live.com/wlmail

How's this for getting stranger. Opt'd for Live mail and installed it. I was
successful in sending an email to myself and my 2nd account.......once!
After that, black-hole again.

Uninstalled Norton via removal tool and still no go. Fired up Thunderbird
again and no problem.

That's good, but you should have let us know what all you have tried
so far.

Does it appear to be more of a sending problem or receiving problem?

If a copy of the sent message appears in the Sent Items folder,
then Windows Mail has done all it can do as far as sending.

When a message is sent but not received, are you able to access it
via webmail?

You don't need Ethereal.
In Windows Mail go to Tools, Options, Advanced, Maintenance.
In the Troubleshooting section click the Mail box.
Then every time you do a send/receive it saves all the POP3/SMTP
commands to a log file which can be found in the same place where
the "Store Folder" is (see the button just above that Troubleshooting
section).
