Email syncronizing Desktop with Notebook

F

Fuse - News

Current Setup
--------------
Desktop PC (XP home edition) that is running Outlook 2003. Just purchased a
Notebook PC (XP home edition) and this also has Outlook 2003 installed on
it.

Needed Setup
--------------
Would like to keep both PC synchronized so that no matter what PC you are
currently on, it will have the latest downloaded, read or newly created
folder on it that the other PC either downloaded or created under Outlook
2003.

Things I know ( I think)
-----------------------
That there will be some type of synchronizing between the two so that it
will know what is what and so on.

Networked Harddrive
-----------------------
Currently have an external maxtor hard-drive that will be hooked up to a
wireless router. This way the maxtor hard-drive can be access by both the
notebook and desktop.

Questions
----------
Outlook stores the .pst file in a different location and I do not want to
open that location up for sharing purposes. What steps do I have to take to
achieve my goal above? All information you can provide or web address that
will help, please share. I'll need to get this setup fairly soon.

Thanks for any help giving!

See http://www.slipstick.com/outlook/sync.htm for ideas.

How do you know this?

both the notebook and desktop.

You can store your PST on the networked drive and it will usually work, but
it's NOT SUPPORTED and the potential to lose data is there. Just point the
mail profiles on each machine at the networked PST.

want to open that location up for sharing purposes.

PSTs can go in any folder to which you have access. There's nothing magical
about their default folder.

have to take to achieve my goal above?

The step-by-step process has been posted in this group and in the
m.p.o.general group numerous times. Google is your friend.
