Email subject line changes not saving - HELP

I use Outlook 2003. I don't usually had any problems changing my subject line
to reflect the email message. However, lately, it seemed to be a hit or miss.
50% of the time, the change is saved. The rest is gets to be a stressful
event as some of the changes would not save. I need help...

Exchange. No add-ins, and have not run OUtlook in Safe Mode.

POP3, Exchange, IMAP, HTTP, other?
