Email stuck in outbox and can't delete.

I've got an email stuck in my Windows Mail outbox folder. It will not send
and will not delete. It was also blocking other emails from being sent. I'v
spent at least 2 hours on phone with computer manufacturer support as well as
ISP support trying to resolve with no help so far. The had me delete and
reload email accounts several times but did not help. I can send emails now
but that original stuck email is still stuck in outbox folder and I'm afraid
will continue to cause problems. Help, I'm not a techie.

I had this same problem. Any email with an attachment 2MB and larger would
get stuck in the outbox, and continually be resent (dozens of times).

FIX. The fix for me was to
TOOLS
ACCOUNT SETTINGS changes account
More Settings
ADVANCED tab
Server Time Out: increase length of time out

By default it is set to one minute. Even with cable modem the uplink speed
just wasn't fast enough for send a big attachment in 1 minute. I bumped mine
to 10 minutes (the max) just so I'll never have to deal with this again.

Microsoft should change the default on this & put something in help on this
issue. I spent hours figuring this out.

Changing the server time-out setting should not be necessary.
This problem is probably caused by your antivirus scanning
the outgoing email. Email scanning is redundant and should be
disabled.
