Email redirection

Hi All

Outlook 2003

A temp (Dan) is replacing a perm staff (Lucy). Dan needs to access Lucy's
emails, i.e. all Lucy's emails be redirected to Dan.

Can this be done from Outlook rule-based or Exchange server ?

How the redirection could be done without losing the original fields "to"
and "cc" in the message header and that Dan has read/write access to them ?

Many thanks

Couple of possibilities here;
-Set client side mailbox permissions
http://www.howto-outlook.com/howto/permissions.htm
-Use a rule to "redirect" instead of to "forward to"
-On the AD object of Lucy configure it to forward to Dan (tab Exchange->
button Delivery Options...)

Tips of the month:
-FREE tool; QuickMail. Create new Outlook items anywhere from within Windows
-Properly back-up and restore your Outlook data

Roady provided valuable suggestions and will sure benefit others in the newsgroup.
I'd prefer to use the third method in http://www.howto-
outlook.com/howto/permissions.htm#Permissions_folder , add Lucy's mailbox as a
secondary mailbox in Dan's folder. You do not need to change anything on DC and
the message can be kept in the original format. When Lucy comes back to work,
she can cancel the permission delegate so that Dan would no longer control her
mailbox.

If you have any further concerns regarding this issue, please feel free to post back.

Hi Pat

Sorry for my intrusion in this thread. I am interested because a few weeks
ago, I tried to do the same thing as "chv" but failed.

I would really appreciate if you could take me step by step to accomplish
this, using Dan and Lucy as example.

I just tried this in my machine at work:

In my Outlook 2003:

Right click on my "Mailbox"
Properties for "Mailbox - Best"
Permissions tab
Add
Chose a user from Gal
Permission level: Editor
Apply

Nothing seemed to have happened. Please what esle I should do ?

One other thing is that from "Rules and alert", I did not find "redirect".

I am looking forward to hearing from you.

Many thanks

Hi Best,

It is my pleasure to be of assistance. Here are the steps:

In Lucy's Outlook:

1. Right click on "Inbox" under Mailbox
Note: you should configure each single subfolder in "Mailbox - Lucy"
2. Properties for "Inbox"
3. Permissions tab
4. Add
5. Chose Dan
6. Permission level: Editor
7. Apply

In Dan's Outlook:

1. Tools/Accounts/view or edit
2. Microsoft Exchange Server
3. Change
4. More Settings
5. Advanced
6. Add
7. Lucy
8. Apply
9. Now you can see Lucy's Inbox

If you also want Dan to send on behalf of Lucy, please refer to this artile:
327000 How to grant "Send as" and "Send on behalf" permissions in Exchange
2000

Hope the info helps.

For your 2nd question, if you are using Outlook 2003, then you can find this
condition:

Check messages when they arrive, Next
Next, all message
redirect it to people or distribution list

It worked fine now.

Just a small detail is that on Lucy side, I had to configure the whole
Mailbox from the properties. Because configuring the properties of only the
Inbox and its subfolders did not work.

Thank you very much for your help.

Best
