email question-hotmail. with xp

I hope someone can help me with this, because I've spent
hours trying to figure this out. I got a new computer
with xp home edition. I use hotmail. Now when I get
email from a friend and it has a link in it, I can open
it but I can not forward it. When the forward window open
the link is not enabled. It's in regular text and when
you point to it no finger just cursor, my friends email
back and say there's nothing to open. I'm also having the
same problem with attachments. I can open them but can't
forward. I tried coping and paste in new message window,
but then when they receive it, it comes up with my msn
page and they need a password to open it.
any help?

To forward an attachment you need to choose to forward as
an attachment, rather than inline text. That should be an
option somewhere. The link problem seems to be more
hotmail than XP. Hotmail should function the same no
matter the operating system, since it is web based and
doesn't change for XP. There may be an option within
hotmail to forward HTML info, or to display HTML. A link
will not work unless it can be sent as an html email,
which hotmail might not support.

It worked fine with my old computer using win 98. I
still have my old computer up and running. I could go in
there with the same links and attachments as mentioned in
my post, and forward them with no problem. That's why
I'm wondering is it xp problem. I need to sell my old
computer, or I would just use that for forwarding.
