Email link issue

Ok...I have an Emachine desktop,1.8 gig proc...756 ram, running Explorer 7.
When I go to let's say Craigslist, and try to respond to an ad, I click on
the email link. and normally it would open up my default email client, and I
email the ad. Now however what happens is I get a little box saying *Could
not perform this operation because the default email client is not properly
installed*. I did download and install Firefox, and when I use *that*
browser, it works! But it still won't on Internet Explorer. Any ideas?
Thanks.

Don't use IE for anything you don't have to.

Still haven't figured out what made it do it, but don't have the problem
anymore... I simply used the 'system restore' and voila...problem was
gone:)

And is the machine currently fully patched at Windows Update?

What is your default Mail Client?

I had all of my updates, and Outlook Express was my default email client. It
had been working for 3 years until two days ago. I had not added any
hardware or software for two weeks...and had done nothing I can think of to
make it do that.

MS Outlook updates strike again!

Microsoft Outlook updates change the default mail handler to Microsoft
Outlook
http://www.oehelp.com/OETips.aspx#13

1. If you don't use MS Outlook, including Calendaring, remove it from your
install of MS Office before proceeding to the next step.

2. Reinstall all updates. If the problem returns...

3. See http://www.oehelp.com/oedef.aspx; and then see...

4a. http://www.oehelp.com/oelnk.aspx

4b. (WinXP) [Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs >] Set Program Access and
Defaults > Email > ...

If still no joy, see:
