Using Windows XP. When I click on an email hyperlink, an Outlook new message
opens but the email address won't auto populate. It would on my old computer
with Windows 2000. Is this an XP issue or something I need to turn on in
Internet Options?

it's either something with the computer or the hyperlink - it should work
correctly in outlook, if the address is passed to it.

It must be the computer then as it happens on all email hyperlinks -- the
computer is not even a month old. Now I need to know how to fix the
computer. Any ideas or where to look for anwers?

I would start with IE's tools, options, programs - use the reset web button
then set outlook for email and apply.
