Email forwarding

I am concerned that my IT manager may be forwarding my emails to other
recipients. Is it possible for them to do this without my knowledge?

Thanks for any help

Possibly - but just consider this - each email sent by you using the Company
infrastructure belongs to the company - they can do whatever they like with
it....

No, not if you are on exchange Server AFAIK.

And please quote the post you are replying to.......

Thanks Gordon and sorry for missing out who I was replying to. It's a shame.
I appreciate your comment about it being company policy but they are abusing
their position. They are the only one who has the ability to access the
system (I only have limited access) and it sounds like I cannot prove that it
is the case that they are mis-using it.

As I said - ANY electronic data, whether email or document, created using
the Company infrastructure and in Company time, belongs to the Company! they
can do what ever they like with it, as long as it's legal (ie they don't use
it for blackmail or extortion etc) - but are you sending emails you
shouldn't be?

Unfortunately they're not abusing their position--they're exercising the
abilities their position entails.

Speaking as an email administrator that has done this at the behest of
corporate management, there are often very compelling reasons for doing
this, and--as Gordon said--your email is not *your* email, it is the
*company's* email. It is their money that was invested into the servers,
the computers, the internet connection, and the software/licensing, so they
have every right to protect that investment to ensure it is being used in a
manner that is in line with the company's well-being.

If however you feel this is done specifically to you for some
non-professional reasons, then the only thing I can suggest is to go through
the proper channels to inform management of your concerns.

They are personal emails so i am at fault I shouldn't have used work email.
I fell out with the IT manager and I think that they are forwarding the
messages to embarrass me, luckily it hasn't quite got to blackmail yet. It is
a lesson learnt.

Thanks for your time.

We've all been there! get a webmail account like Gmail to use for personal
emails at work.
(I didn't say that....)!

Thanks for all your help. At least i know it can't be done. I thought that it
was worth finding out whether I could prove it before I went to senior
management with it. It is just going to be my word against theirs though so I
will have to sleep on it.

Thanks again
