In the past I have had no problems opening attachments. Now I have to save
all attachments prior to viewing document/picture.

I do not understand tech language so PLEASE tell me step by step on what can
be done to fix this issue.

THANK YOU IN ADVANCE!!!!!!!

Hi,
I had the same problem arrising yesterday morning just after the Internet
explorer 8 and Office Service pack 2 were installed by windows update.
By chance, the problem dissapeared in the afternoon when windows update
upgraded my vista to Service pack 2.
I recommand then to check in windows update if you are also in between that
two updates ...
If yes, just upgrade to Vista SP2 and you will be able to open office
attachments again form email in windows mail, as before.

regards

We appreciate your attempt to be helpful, but unless you've dealt
with hundreds of these cases and followed the history of this issue,
it is better to let the more experienced responders handle this.
Vista's SP2 has no effect on this particular issue.

The problem is often temporary therefore the fact that it works once or
twice is not proof it is fixed permanently.

Bernard,
it would have been nice would you have update the thread with your later
experience.

To all who come across this thread:
Bernard's posting was premature.
Meanwhile he reported that the problem is back.

This is only too natural: So far no SP and no Windows patch is if any
influence in the IE8-WinMail bug {siiiigh}.
