First, before I tell you how I fixed the misspelling
myself, let me just respond to your other email dated
3/23/04. Let me just say, I am patient. It's very
frustrating to contact, Microsoft, Hewlett Packard and
Windows XP "Professionals" only to hear they need to
charge us to tell us about their own products. Then when
I use the newsgroups I sometimes get bad information. One
volunteer told me just to "delete old file and create new
one". Well, wouldn't that take a lot of unnecessary work
when there should be an easier way to add or change a
file that someone had already named!!!!! Plus someone
DID add/change the name of the main folder. To quote
you "No one set up your contacts list" well, to correct
you, yes a friend had to because how else would the
folder be created, be misspelled and have all my email
addresses in the book??? I looked in the "owner.wab
properties" and it reads the "address book was created
12/04/02 9:40 pm." That's the day I brought the new
computer home and a friend created my address book and
named it.
So the solution I found was in:
OE/file/identities/manage identities/I then
highlighted "Deb"/properties/I retyped "Deb"/close.
I then looked at the address book and the folder that
was "Deb's's Contacts" now correctly reads "Deb's
Contacts". I'm glad I was able to figure out this small
but annoying problem.
Thank you.

First let's backup a tad and I'll ask you to bone up on how OE stores
your data in Identities:
http://insideoe.tomsterdam.com/files/store.htm#storemain. The identity used
by default (i.e., if you don't create one) is called/named Main Identity.
Go to OE Tools>Options>Maintenance and press the Store Folder button.
What's the name of your identity? (e.g., mine would be Robear, as in
C:\Documents and Settings\<User>\Local Settings\Application
Data\Identities\{GUID}\Microsoft\Outlook Express\Robear)
No one set up your contacts list or even your Address Book, for that
matter. OE creates and names it automatically for each identity:
http://insideoe.tomsterdam.com/files/wab.htm.
Now, moving on: In WindowsXP, the OE user files, including *.wab and
*.dbx files, are by default marked as hidden. To view these files in
Windows Explorer, you must enable 'Show Hidden Files and Folders' under
Start | Control Panel | Folder Options | View. Do so now.
Then, in Windows Explorer, search for both "Debs*.wa~" and "Debs*.*"
(w/out the quotes). What do you find?
Also, is MS Office or MS Outlook also installed?

NO. Whoever set up my main contact address list and
named the folder misspelled my name. They named
it "Debs's Contacts". The "Shared Contact" folder was
already there. I don't kbow where to locate these main
folders. All the subfolders I added later in the address
book are correct.

identity's contacts" folder??--

Is your Windows Logon (aka Profile) also misspelled?

Yes. The name already on it is not spelled correctly so
I want to correct it. Thanks

Are you referring to changing "Main Identity's Contacts" to "[another
name]'s Contacts"?
