emachine won't start

I have an emachine T2692. The screen went blank when using it the
other day. I connected another monitor and still no picture. I
bought a new graphics card and still no picture. I have now noticed
when I turn the power on, it appears to check the cd rom drive but I
get no hard disk activity or diskette drive activity. The power
light comes on and the fan is running. Normally, if it is the hard
drive, the display still works and displays a HD error. Is it fried
or is there something I can do to check it out myself?

did you see a 'check sum' error at any time during the startup
recently?
when the machine detects hardware, is the hard drive seen properly?

I get nothing on the monitor at all. The only thing the monitor will
display is the no signal feed by the monitor itself. The only thing
that appears to be detected is the cdrom. that is the only lighy
that blinks during startup. Used to they had lights on the
motherboard that indicated each detection step, but I do not see any
on this one.

The hard drive light does not blink at all. In my past experiences,
when it was the harddrive or harddrive card, I would get a message
saying so on the screen but nothing this time.

Are there any leaking or bulging caps on the motherboard?
