Eliminating "0" before .xxx

I just started doing the statistics for the local Little league baseball
team. When I compute the batting average of a player, the results always show
as 0.xxx. As many of you know the average is always shown as .xxx. How can I
accomplish getting the results without the 0 before the dot.
Thanks

Mike: I wholeheartedly thak you for the speedy response. However, my computer
illiteracy prevents me from following your advice. If you walk me through the
process I will greatly appreciate it.

Select all the cells that contain the batting averages.

Hit ctrl-1 (hold the control key while hitting the 1 (one) key)
choose Format Cells
Select the number tab
Choose Custom as the category (left hand side)
type:
..000
(I like that better than .###)
in the Type box (on the right hand side)
hit enter.
