Eliminate Winmail.Dat files in Outlook. Nobody else can open them

I wish MS would eliminate the winmail.dat file methodology in Outlook. When
I send attachments to people with AOL, Macs, Outlook Express or anything
other than Outlook, they always say they can't open my winmail.dat file.

Then I have to resend as plain text or tell them about the STUPID thing that
MS does with attachments in Outlook.

I'm sure it was a good idea on paper, but its a pain in the *** for users.

I think HTML should work also.

I avoid rtf and word as my email editor.

I haven't seen a winmail.dat since Y2K.

Don't send in Rich Text Format. It's designed to work only with other
Outlook clients. If you need to send mail with fonts & such use HTML, it's
more widely used.

This is happening because you are using Rich Text format to compose
your messages. Only Outlook users can read that message format. Use
either plain text or HTML format to compose your messages.

When pdf's disapear after you send them or someone receives it as a
winmail.dat file your email account setup for sending format is NOT the only
place you have to turn off Rich Text Format for sending emails. You must
also change the rich text format in the email address properties in your
address book for the person you are sending to. double click on the email
address to bring up the email address properties and change it to let outlook
decide. The address book properties over ride what you choose in your email
account set up.
