Eliminate Login Dialog Box

Everytime I start my PC (XP Media), I get a dialog box asking for a password
(I log in as Adminstrator, unfortunately). I don't type anything, but just
hit Enter, and Windows boots up.
How do I get rid of this annoying dialog box...I am in a secure environment
and don't need a login/password.

Sadly if your computer is connected to the internet, you're not secure. Of
course there's a bit of irony in the reason XP's default password for the
admin is blank -- because blank passwords disable the use of some tasks or
remote connections.

Of course any malicious software you download will still run with full
administrator rights, and can do anything without check.

But if you still want to disable the log on, here's how:

1) Go to Start / Run... and type in "control userpasswords2"
2) At the top of that dialog, un-check the box that says "Users must enter a
name and password to use this computer."

From then on, you'll be automatically logged on to the account you choose.

Additionally, should the Administrator account become corrupted to the point that its completely unusable, you have no easy way of making repairs or using various utilities to troubleshoot. You should create an administrator level user account, and use it, instead. Only use the built-in Administrator account when absolutely necessary.
