WILLIAM

I have users on a domain, and on a novell network at the
same time. We are now fully running windows xp on the
client side. We set up all pc and laptop user accounts as
domain users so they have very limited rights on the pc.

A couple of times a year we have large amounts of people
that leave together on extended trips where they will not
connect back to the domain. When they get to these remote
locations they need to be able to install printers.
Printers are the one thing we don't care if users install,
yet with limited accounts they are not able to.

Run As is perfect if someone is there with an admin
password for the machine, but that isnt always possible.

Is there a way to give user accounts rights to install
printers? Or perhaps another way around that.....THANKS!

There is a user right that deals with this ability to install
printer drivers. You should be aware that granting this
allows them to install potentially risky code that will run
in the kernel as system.

If you mean the "Prevent users from installing printer
drivers," which you would then have to disable to allow
the install, it doesn't work. Wether they are on the
domain, or local, it doesn't work.

Any ideas?

Will, I have exactly the same problem as you.....user rights and printers
Where do I find the register to allow users to install printer drivers ?

Thanks
