The "egg timer" which I believe is the "hour glass" or a "watch" which
your cursor pointer changes into, appears when your OS or another
program is doing some sort of processing, the more intense the
processing the longer the hour glass remains on the screen. My guess is
that you have some program loaded that is doing some periodic
processing. It would be hard for us to tell you exactly which program is
causing it, but the general response would be that you should check your
Task manager to see what you have loaded and see if you can ascertain
which programs are using up more CPU or memory.
