EDO RAM Compatibility

I have a defunct QUANTEX Pentium2 PC with 96MB (64MB and 32MB sets of)
EDO RAM chips and a working GATEWAY2000 P4D-66 with 8MB EDO RAM chips.

How can I determine if the EDO RAM used in the QUANTEX are useable in
the GATEWAY2000 PC ?

Try it. If it doesn't work you are no worse off. Try the larger modules
one pair at a time.

No, I have not yet tried, because I fear damage to the RAM might occur
due to improper voltage or some other reason. Are all EDO RAM equal in
regard to operating voltages ?

The RAM presently in the Quantex is the originally supplied 32MB and
64MB RAM that was purchased from Crucial. I do not know the specific
details of the EDO RAM presently in the Gateway PC.

I was hoping to get Crucial's suggested RAM chips for the Gateway
P4D-66 and perhaps thereby determine if the two RAM chips were
interchangeable. However, the Crucial Wizzard could not find EDO RAM
for the Gateway.

I doubt that you would injure the RAM. I believe the voltages are standard
for 72 pin RAM.
