Editing Contact Lists

I recently switched to Outlook from OE and I never had this problem in OE.
When I delete or modify info for a contact in my "main" address book, the
change does not affect the address that is in a distribution list. For
example, when I delete a contact from the address book, ithe entire entry
remains in distribution lists. I know I can deal with the entries
individually, but this seems like a bug to me.

It's a permanent bug which will not be fixed. Few people use DL's anymore
for this and other reasons.

Very interesting - what do people use for management of large mailing lists
if not a distribution list? I can't imagine not being able to set up and use
groups of addresses for quick distribution to a large audience. Maybe
Outlook has a different capability that I don't know about???

I must be missing something - I can't figure out how Categories would be that
helpful in setting up e-mail groups. Also, the Outlook Help material
provided with the product and on MS website seem to encourage the use of DL
for e-mail address management. Perhaps I asked the question incorrectly.

Hardly. Microsoft has always pretended that DL's work. Relying on Help files
as a sole source of truth is naive. They are a biased opinion. Reading the
posts in this group will tell you the real world experience and will answer
your question as to how users employ Categories in lieu of DL's.
