I type San Diego or San Francisco often. The word san and a space is in the
dropdown menu above those two, and it's annoying. How do I access the
autocomplete list to edit?

Brian,
There is a choice of words on which you can click to choose the right one.
On the list that comes up for San Diego, I get San d San Diego, San
Francisco, etc.
I want to get rid of the San d. This happens often in the address field
filled in on an internet site.

Also, is there a way to turn on or edit autocomplete in Word?
Thanks!

Right there in Word help on autocomplete.

Turn on or off AutoComplete
When the AutoComplete feature is turned on, Microsoft Word will display a
ScreenTip when you type the first few characters of an AutoText entry, at which
point you can insert the entry or continue typing.

On the Insert menu, point to AutoText, and then click AutoText.
Select or clear the Show AutoComplete suggestions check box.

For Excel, if using it, go to Tools>Options>Edit and uncheck "Enable
autocomplete for cell values"

To clarify for you there are a few lists which save a typed in entry and the one
for IE's URL Address dropdown list is named "TypedURLs". For easy control of this
list download EditURLs:

Brian,
I appreciate your help on this. Is the edit URL program to remove URLs or
websites from a dropdown list in the address bar? If so, that wouldn't be
the problem I'm having. Sorry to be unclear. When I'm on a site, and it
wants me to fill in a form with information, for example I'm making a
purchase and it wants a home and billing address, as I fill in the online
form and get to the space for the city, I begin typing San Diego, at which
point the drop down list of words appears which can be used to complete the
word your typing by selecting the proper word and hitting Enter. The list
includes an incomplete form of the city name that I'd like to get rid of. Is
there a way to access and edit that list?
Thanks again.
Gaye

Well that was easy! That was exactly the answer for what I was trying to do!
As obvious and simple as it seems, I didn't think it worked that way.
Thank you.
