i recently bought a new computer, sent a file from work
to home. the file is in ecxell. do i have to purchase the
ecxell package to be able to open the file?

If you ONLY want to VIEW the file, you can download the free Excel Viewer at
the Microsoft web site. If you want to make any changes to the file, you'll
need to purchase Excel, or MS Office, which includes Excel.
