easy transfer

I just want to transfer my outlook files (and nothing else) to my new vista
pc. I followed the instructions but when I get to the point of copying files
to my USB drive easy transfer doesn't allow this. Instead I have to choose
things like 'User' but surely that will copy a load of stuff I don't want on
my new pc. How do I just get outlook files and nothing else? Thanks.

Go to the old computer and start Outlook. Look under the File menu for an
Import/Export entry and start that Wizard. Export your data to a .pst file
and save it somewhere you will find it, like in your My Documents. Now you
need to copy that .pst file to your new computer. You can do this by:

1. Burning it to CD/DVD-R;
2. or putting it on a USB flash drive;
3. or transferring it to the new computer over the Local Area Network.

Pick the method that is easiest for you and suits the size of the .pst.

Here is a Microsoft Knowledge Base article that details exactly how to
export the .pst file on the old computer and how to get it into the new
one:

unless you are going to run Outlook on your new Vista there is not much you can do to transfer the PST files.

you need to EXPORT your address book in CSV format to be able to IMPORT it into Windows Mail.

if you are going to have and use Outlook on your new Vista then you can use the Export/Import functions of Outlook to move your files over.
