Easy to use cad program

R

Rodo

Hello All,

I'm looking for an easy to use cadprogram with the normal standard
functions.. After i was Googling around i had so much information that i
don't know what to choose, therefor i ask your practical help as user.
Simplicity is No.1 and it is a advantage if it can read autocad files. A lot
of freeware programs have disabled functions as Save etc, i'm looking for a
enabled normal functions.

Thanks for your help, Rodo

Don't know the first thing about CAD programs, never used any,
but I noticed the UK PC magazine PCPLUS offers a full version of
IntelliCAD 2000 on their pages. Goto <http://www.pcplus.co.uk>
click the download section and click the letter "I" in the
alphabetical index there, and there the IntelliCAD 2000 link.

All the best,

Which is just as well, because it is in no way or form an easy to use
CAD system.

No idea what "normal standard function" are but at least look at CadStd
Lite.

Will open Acad2k files, also imports DXFs (drawing interchange files) better
than any other program I have tried other than AutoCAD, and the only one I
have found which will handle large x/y coordinates such as some map grids.
However, "CAD" and "easy" don't really go together. There is a fairly steep
learning curve, and previous experience with manual drafting may sometimes
hinder rather than help.
I think the version above is the one that is still running on my PC,
along with the professional version which I bought.

Hello Rodo,

another possibility is to order a free CD with Solid Egde Layout. UG
Solutions gives this 2D-CAD part of their complete CAD-Software "Solid
Edge" for free away. You need a registration, but maybe this program is
this worth. The german computer magazin ct wrote, this would be one of the
best free 2D-CAD programs. The link to the free CD ordering:

Forgive me my bad english ;)

Not sure what you mean by the 'normal standard functions', but give
VeCAD [http://www.kolba.com/vecad.htm] a look. It's a non-free library
that comes with a free cad app as a demo; it's a bit light, but it has
some very nice features, is pleasant to use, and is blazingly fast.

CYCAS is available for public use... download needs a name and e-mail
address, but it's free.
