Easy CD Creator

Katy

After replacement of a hard drive and motherboard, I
reloaded WinME, then again upgraded to WinXP Pro. I
can't get the drivers to load for Easy CD Creator 4.0 and
therefore the upgrade won't recognize the program and
refuses to install. Can you help me figure out how to
get it loaded?

Easy CD Creator 4.0 does not work in XP. Why did you upgrade from ME , you
should have done a clean installation.

Easy CD Creator 4.0 is not compatible with Windows XP.
You'll need to purchase a new version that is compatible,
or use the one built into Windows XP.

Open XP's "Help and Support" and type: CD RECORDING , and hit enter.
The click on the topic titled: "Copy Files and Folders to a CD".

Hi Katy,
Remove Easy CD Creator for now to upgrade. After you have upgraded to XP,
reinstall Easy CD Creator 4 and before you restart after installation, patch
it to version 4.05 using the relevant patch for your version from
http://roxio.com/en/support/ecdc/software_updatesv4.jhtml
Although version 4 isn't listed as being compatible, 4.05 worked perfectly
for me until I replaced it recently.

Hope that helps
Mark

You need version 5 with the 5.3.5 update

Try www.roxio.com and access their discussion forum. I
saw a similar problem resolved there. Has to do with
running a special problem to reomve all traces of the
previous CD Creator files.

Uninstall EZCD in its entirety, uninstall the drive from the device manager, then copy this script below into Notepad, and save as .reg, then merge this into the registry.

REGEDIT4

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}]
"UpperFilters"=-
"LowerFilters"=-

[-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Cdr4_2K]

[-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Cdralw2k]

[-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Cdudf]

[-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\UdfReadr]

This will remove any instance of the CDR(W), reboot, so XP will reinstall the basic drive, then install the updated version of Roxio's version #5 with the latest patches from their web site.

Note; create a new restore point to back up the registry before doing this at your own risk

They also need to make it a custom install. Do not install Take Two or
Direct CD.

Easy CD Creator 4 is seen as not compatible with Windows XP, and you
must remove it totally before upgrading.

Once upgraded there *may* be difficulty with residual references to it -
if so, to tidy up, get a registry patch file, cdgone.reg, from
www.aumha.org/downloads/cdgone.zip, extract it, r-click on it and merge
it into the registry

It is then usually *possible* to install just the Easy CD Creator
component (by not Direct CD or take Two), if after the setup you
immediately run the update to version 4.05 which you can download from
www.roxio.com - but this is not approved of or supported by Roxio, who
would insist on your installing version 5 or 6. Or get a different
package.
