E-mails sent from Word are corrupted

When I send a Word document as e-mail in Word "File Menu -> Send To -> Mail
Recipient" and the document is too long, it arrives corrupted to the
recipient.

Why do I have this problem? How can I fix it?

Have you tried using File | Send To | Mail Recipient (as Attachment)
instead?

When I send it as attachment it arrives OK, but I want it on the body of the
message, as html.

The problem doesn't happen on Office 2000, but on Office 2003 it does.
